Mushi-shi Screening in the UK

Barbican UK will be hosting the third season of Japanimation, a series of events exploring the relationship between Japanese animation and Western cinema. The third season returns with the latest live action movie by Katusuhiro Otomo, best known for "Akira." The feature will be introduced by Helen McCarthy, anime expert and co-author of The Anime Encyclopedia. This will be followed by the live action movie of "Mushishi" and 2 episodes from the anime.

The Mushi are neither plants nor animals, instead they resemble the primeval substances of life. Ginko, a "Mushi-shi" is a travelling doctor who travels around investigating them. The live action movie and anime are done well and makes a nice addition to the manga. Check out my original review here. And for more information on the event, visit Barbican UK.
