According to Moon Phase Diary (via Heisei Democracy) the 14th volume of "Trigun Maximum" revealed word that a new "Trigun" animated film is in the works, care of Madhouse. Aren't you glad I didn't say live action?? Anyways, it will feature an original story developed by manga author Yasuhiro Nightow and director Nishimura Satoshi who collaborated with Nightow on the "Trigun" TV series. The script will be helmed by veteran anime writer Kobayashi Yasuko.And here is the kicker, the tagline of this film is: “Vash vs. Wolfwood?! Old fans are quite familiar with the duo. I've been expecting this fight, like many others, since I first watched the anime many years ago. The movie is due out sometime in 2009, so we will probably, at the earliest, see it in 2010, unless you're lucky enough to be in Japan.

A live action film would be wonderful. God willing, perhaps the success of the animated movie could spawn a set of live action movies.
It just has to be handled correctly.
omg, a live action trigun wuld rule, but like anonymous says it needs the right actors, someone serious but with a funny side needs to play vash XD
i've heard that Brad Pitt loves Trigun and would love to play Wash.
Also Val Kilmer would be great as Wolfwood
