We first heard hints about the upcoming event known as "Japan! Culture + Hyperculture" months ago. For a refresher, check out my original post back in March. The 2-week long festival will take place on February 2008 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. A detailed schedule has been posted up and from the looks of the line-up, this event has a little bit of everything, giving viewers a glance at Japanese culture, both traditional and modern. Japanese robotics, kabuki, musicals, contemporary dance, plays, a laptop orchestra, ballet, and other musical performances are just some of the events that will grace DC in February. Most noteworthy of course is the world premiere of "Genius Party," the anthology of short animated films made by the gurus of the anime industry. A marathon of three anime premieres will be shown back to back. Japan! Culture + Hyperculture is shaping up to be the event of the new year.
Tickets for this amazing event will be available for purchase September 28, 2007. For more information and of course, to land some tickets, be sure to check out the Kennedy Center website here.
